Mark Johnson

Founder & Director

Mark has been the Executive Director of Jackaroo Paper since he founded it in 1985. 


Mark holds a Bachelor of Business from Queensland’s University of Technology. He entered corporate banking before establishing one of Australia's first paper recycling businesses, which was sold to a public company in 1995. Using his platform as a pioneer in the recycling industry, he then established Jackaroo, which has remained his focus as it has evolved and expanded. Mark has traveled extensively to paper mills throughout the world, developing close relationships with senior management. As such, Mark has over 30 years of experience in the paper industry, spanning global markets. 

In 2006, Mark joined with international partners to establish Jackaroo Property, which is focused on real estate investment. Both Jackaroo Paper and Property operate out of the Sydney headquarters. 

Darren McMullen

Non-executive Director

Darren’s role at Jackaroo includes credit management, overseeing and negotiating all banking relationships, managing FX exposures, and inculcating a project management discipline in the running of the business.

Darren holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Queensland University of Technology. After gaining 20 years of experience in banking, finance, funds management and property development, he joined Jackaroo in 2006. He then established Jackaroo Property as CEO and major shareholder, which, on behalf of its wholesale investors, makes direct equity investment in property development projects. Darren's Non-Executive Directorship regularly crosses into an executive role where his experience brings to bear a strong focus on financial, business and project management.

Jonathan Deleu

Managing Director

Jonathan oversees all aspects of Jackaroo, travelling extensively to support suppliers and customers. 

Jonathan holds a master’s degree in Commerce from HEC Business School in Belgium and has completed the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School. He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he worked in the Luxembourg and Sydney offices, before taking a position at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. 


Since making Sydney home and joining Jackaroo in 2006, Jonathan held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Operations Manager, prior to his current role as Managing Director. Jonathan is focused on growing Jackaroo’s global reach; he spent two years in South Africa to support Jackaroo’s expansion into the South African paper and packaging industry, and is actively involved with Jackaroo’s recent expansion into the UK.

Marleen Avemann

Chief Financial Officer

Marleen joined Jackaroo in early 2010 as Financial Controller of all operations. As CFO, she has full responsibility for the overall management of accounts and all financial reporting and compliance functions of the company.

Marleen is CPA qualified and has previously worked in a senior accounting role at PKF Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers as well as for a publicly listed Property Fund. She holds an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney.

David Frank

David is originally from South Africa and now based at the Jackaroo head office in Sydney, Australia. David brings to the team a decade of experience working in all areas facilitating the international trade of soft commodities, fertilisers and paper goods from manufacturing and logistics to strategic account management. 


As Operations Manager for Jackaroo in Asia Pacific, he oversees all aspects of customer service, order fulfilment and supply chain management throughout the region, in addition to heading up the Wide Format Media business unit. David’s extensive cross-industry experience together with Jackaroo’s knowledgeable operations team positions Jackaroo well to meet industry demands and anticipate customer needs. David holds a BCom Hons and an MBA from Henley Business School.

Sean Combrink

Sean is Jackaroo’s Business Development Manager based in the UK. He has been in the paper packaging industry since 2013 having worked in procurement, supply chain, production, and corporate finance.

Sean started his career at Coca Cola before joining Mpact Corrugated Business where he held various commercial and project manager roles. Sean also spent 2 years at Detpak South Africa, a leading bag and cup manufacturer, where he held the position of Commercial Manager. Before joining Jackaroo in 2020 as Operations Manager, Sean was the Business Unit Lead at Neopak Packaging Durban. In 2021, Sean established Jackaroo’s first European office. Today Sean is focussed on the development and expansion of our UK business.

Katey Murdoch

New Zealand based, Katey  supports supply into Australia, South Africa and parts of South East Asia.


Over more than 15 years at Jackaroo, Katey has also held other roles which have seen her travel to paper mills to understand all aspects of forestry, harvesting, pulp and production, freight forwarding and the supply chain. She also has significant technical experience with paper, packaging and end-to-end converting processes. These insights and her long-term relationships with mills and customers support her extensive knowledge of the paper and packaging industry. 


Manesh Singh

Manesh is based in South Africa and has over 25 years of experience working widely within the South African paper and packaging industry, including Sappi and Mondi. His roles have covered supply chain, merchanting and manufacturing, but currently he is focused on all areas of sales and marketing.


His extensive experience and ongoing industry engagement, coupled with Jackaroo’s extensive logistic and product solutions, sees him well placed to continue business development in South Africa and surrounding countries.

Manesh holds an MBA from MANCOSA University.
